Tabzoola is a US manufacturer and supplier of custom index tabs, printed and die-cut to order in Schaumburg, Illinois. Tabzoola is the online storefront of Anselmo Die & Index, Inc., a family-owned tab manufacturer since 1993. New to the product? Start with tab dividers explained — what they are, the three ways to buy them, and every kind we print.
A custom index tab is a divider sheet with a printed tab extending past the page edge. The word “custom” is doing the work: instead of a stock pack of numbers or letters, every tab carries your own section names, in your order, in the colors you choose. That is the difference between a binder someone can navigate and a binder someone has to read.
Design a set below with live pricing, or pick the tab type that matches your project. Minimum order is 25 sets, every cut from 1/2 to 1/15 is available, and a free PDF proof comes before anything prints.
What custom index tabs cost per set
Custom printing is a make-ready business, so the per-set price falls steeply with quantity. Paper, setup included, per set:
| Sets | 25 | 100 | 250 | 500 | 1,000 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5-tab set | $5.45 | $2.35 | $1.57 | $1.36 | $1.08 |
| 8-tab set | $8.00 | $3.58 | $2.44 | $2.14 | $1.71 |
The number most buyers get wrong: at 250 sets and above, a custom printed set costs less per set than most stock divider packs off an office-supply shelf — and it carries your own section names instead of numbers or letters. A 5-tab set at 250 is $1.57. Custom is the expensive option at 25 sets, not at 250.
Figures computed from the live pricing engine, setup included, and shown in full on the pricing page. Poly runs higher and is priced separately.

Tab dividers, divider tabs, custom dividers — one product
These names are used interchangeably in the trade and mean the same thing: tab dividers, divider tabs, custom dividers, customized tabs, custom index tabs, index tab dividers, custom index dividers, binder tab dividers and printed tab dividers. Whichever term your office uses, the product is the same — a printed divider sheet with a die-cut tab extension that stands proud of the page edge so a section can be found without hunting.
What varies is not the name but the specification — the cut, the stock, the reinforcement, whether the set arrives collated, and what is printed on each tab.
The tab cut: how many positions across the page
The cut is how many tab positions span the width of a page before the pattern repeats. A 1/5 cut steps five tabs down the binding edge; a 1/10 cut fits ten. Tabzoola cuts every standard position from 1/2 through 1/15.
Wider cuts give each tab a bigger face and more room for text, which is why the 1/5 cut is the most common choice for general binders. Narrower cuts — 1/8 and 1/10 — are the workhorses for medical charts and long document sets, where a full section list has to fit without crowding the words.
If a set needs more tabs than the cut allows, the positions step into banks: with a 1/5 cut and 12 tabs, the pattern cycles through five and repeats, so a reader still sees a clean staircase down the page.
Paper or poly, and where Mylar matters
Paper index tabs come in 19 Mylar colors on heavy 90# or 110# index stock. The tab edge is where paper fails first, which is what Mylar reinforcement solves: a thin polyester film bonded along the extension, clear or colored, so the tab does not tear away after a season of handling.
Poly (plastic) tabs come in 11 colors, wipe clean, and resist tearing and moisture — the right call for sets handled every day, in clinics, or anywhere a spill is likely. Poly is screen printed with environmentally friendly UV inks and is 100% recyclable.
Printing, punching, and collation
Tabs print on one or both sides, in black or — on dark poly — white ink. Sets can be 3-hole punched or shipped unpunched, and poly sets can carry body printing across the full divider sheet rather than only the tab.
Collated sets arrive complete and in order, ready to drop into a binder. Uncollated sets arrive grouped by position — all the tab 1s together, all the tab 2s — which suits high-volume assembly lines building sets in bulk.

Frequently asked questions
What are custom index tabs?
Custom index tabs are divider sheets with a printed, die-cut tab extending past the page edge, so a reader can find a section without hunting. “Custom” means the text on every tab is yours rather than a stock set of numbers or letters — Tabzoola prints your own section names, in your order, in your colors.
Are index tabs and index dividers the same thing?
Yes. Tab dividers, divider tabs, custom index tabs, index tab dividers, binder tab dividers and custom index dividers all describe the same product: a printed divider sheet with a die-cut tab extension. Different vendors label them differently and the words are used interchangeably in the trade, so search results for any of these terms return the same thing.
What tab cuts can I order?
Every standard cut from 1/2 through 1/15. The cut is how many tab positions span the width of the page — a 1/5 cut steps five tabs across before the pattern repeats. Wider cuts fit more text per tab; narrower cuts fit more sections into one bank.
What is the minimum order for custom index tabs?
Twenty-five sets. You can order any quantity from 25 sets up to 1,000+, and the per-tab price drops as the quantity rises. Full price tables are published on the pricing page — there is no quote form to see a number.
Should I choose paper or poly index tabs?
Paper costs less and comes in 19 Mylar colors, with optional Mylar reinforcement bonded along the tab edge where paper fails first. Poly (plastic) is wipe-clean and tear-resistant in 11 colors, which suits sets handled daily or exposed to moisture.
How long does an order take?
Paper tab orders typically produce in about 5 business days and poly in about 15, both measured from the moment you approve your proof. A free PDF proof is emailed before anything prints, and production starts only once you approve it.
