Design Paper TabsPoly Tabs

Tabzoola is a US manufacturer and supplier of custom legal exhibit tabs and case binder dividers, made to order in Schaumburg, Illinois by Anselmo Die & Index, Inc., the family-owned plant that has die-cut index tabs since 1993 and trades online as Tabzoola, shipping nationwide.

Law firms, paralegals, and litigation-support teams rely on clean, durable exhibit tabs to keep case binders organized and court-ready. Tabzoola prints custom legal exhibit tabs to your exact numbering or lettering — collated into ready-to-file sets so you're not hand-assembling dividers the night before a filing.

Every set is printed and finished in our own Schaumburg, Illinois plant, with Mylar edge reinforcing so tabs survive repeated handling in heavy three-ring binders.

Legal size (8.5″ × 14″) dividers are available on request — email sales@tabzoola.com with your section list and quantity. They are not in the online designer, so they are quoted rather than priced live.

Build the set from the exhibit list you already have

The exhibit list already exists — it is the PDF you filed. Drop that PDF onto the designer and Tabzoola reads the exhibit stamps straight off it, so the tabs for a trial binder come from the document instead of being retyped out of it. Twenty exhibits become twenty tabs, in the order they are stamped.

It reads stamps the way they are actually applied: **EXHIBIT A**, **Exhibit 12**, **EXHIBIT AA**, **Ex. 4**, and party-prefixed forms such as **PX-4**, **DX 7** or **P-12**. Only stamps near the top of a page count — that is where cover-sheet and corner stamps sit — so a line of body text that merely mentions “see Exhibit B” never turns into a tab. Up to 150 tabs are read from a single document.

**The file never leaves your computer.** The reading happens inside your browser; nothing is uploaded to Tabzoola. That is the difference that matters when the document is privileged discovery rather than something you can hand to a vendor.

Then you check it. Every title stays editable before the set prices, so anything the document got wrong is fixed in the designer rather than discovered on the proof.

  • **Exhibit stamps** — EXHIBIT A, Exhibit 12, EXHIBIT AA, Ex. 4, PX-4, DX 7, P-12
  • **PDF bookmarks** — when the filing has an outline, that outline is the tab list
  • **A printed contents page** — read from the first pages, dot leaders and all
  • **Word documents** — heading styles become tab titles
  • **Scanned exhibits** — an image-only PDF has no text layer to read, so photograph the old tab set instead and we read the tabs from the photo

The exhibit ranges courts actually use

Exhibit sets are ordered by range, and the range is usually dictated by the court, the jurisdiction or opposing counsel rather than chosen. All of these generate automatically in the designer — enter the range and the sequence fills itself:

  • **A–Z** — the standard lettered exhibit set, 26 tabs
  • **A–T** — a common court-specified lettered range that stops short of the full alphabet
  • **AA–ZZ** — double letters, for sets that run past Z; used with A–Z ahead of it for 700+ exhibits
  • **1–20** — the short numeric exhibit set typical of a single motion or deposition
  • **1–100, 1–250, 1–500** — trial and multi-witness sets; all price online
  • **I–XX** — Roman numerals, still specified in some jurisdictions and appellate practice

Starting at a number other than 1

Exhibit numbering rarely starts at 1 in practice. A set can begin at any number — Exhibit 501, 1200, or wherever the last set ended — and run any length from there. That matters when exhibits are numbered continuously across depositions, or when each party has an assigned block.

Party prefixes work the same way: P-1 through P-40, D-1 through D-40, or your own convention printed exactly as given.

Numbered and alphabetical exhibit tabs

Whether your court or jurisdiction calls for numbered exhibits (1, 2, 3…), alphabetical exhibits (A, B, C…), or a custom sequence, you set the labels directly in the online designer. Sequential numbering is generated automatically, so a 1-to-250 exhibit set takes seconds to configure.

  • Numbered exhibits — any range, generated in sequence
  • Alphabetical exhibits — A–Z, AA–ZZ, or custom letters
  • Mixed or custom labels — "Exhibit", dates, witness names, deposition references
  • Collated into complete sets, ready to drop into the binder

Built to survive the courtroom

Legal binders get pulled, copied, and re-filed constantly. Mylar edge reinforcing bonds a tough clear film along the three-hole-punched edge so tabs don't tear out of the rings. Choose your cut (1/5 is common for exhibits, higher cuts fit more tabs per page) and 90 lb index stock for a substantial, professional feel.

Frequently asked questions

Can you make exhibit tabs from my exhibit list or filed PDF?

Yes. Drop the PDF onto the designer and the exhibit stamps are read straight out of it — EXHIBIT A, Exhibit 12, EXHIBIT AA, Ex. 4, and party-prefixed forms like PX-4 or D-7 — and become the tab titles in stamped order, up to 150 tabs from one document. PDF bookmarks, a printed contents page, and Word heading styles work the same way. Every title stays editable before the set prices. A scanned, image-only PDF has no text layer to read; for those, photograph the existing tab set and we read the tabs off the photo.

Do I have to upload privileged documents to get exhibit tabs made?

No. The document is read inside your own browser and is never uploaded to Tabzoola — only the tab titles you approve are sent when you order. Nothing about the filing itself reaches us, which is what makes it usable on privileged discovery. If you would rather not involve the document at all, type or paste the exhibit range and the sequence generates itself.

Do you make A-Z and AA-ZZ exhibit tabs?

Yes — A–Z as a 26-tab lettered set, and AA–ZZ for sets that run past Z, which are typically ordered together for large exhibit lists. A–T and other court-specified partial ranges are equally standard; enter the range and the sequence generates automatically.

Can exhibit numbering start at something other than 1?

Yes. A set can start at any number — Exhibit 501, 1200, or wherever your last set ended — and run any length. Party prefixes such as P-1 through P-40 or D-1 through D-40 print exactly as specified, which is what continuous numbering across depositions requires.

What is the largest exhibit set you can produce?

Sets up to 500 tabs price instantly online, which covers 1–500 numeric and A–Z plus AA–ZZ lettered runs. Larger sequences are produced at the plant as custom work — send the range through the quote form.

Where can I buy exhibit tabs?

You can buy stock exhibit tabs (Exhibit A–Z, 1–25) at office suppliers, but custom exhibit tabs — your exact exhibit numbers, any range, collated in order — come from a custom tab manufacturer. Tabzoola prints exhibit tab sets to your numbering with instant online pricing, a free PDF proof, and about 5-day turnaround, shipped anywhere in the US.

How much do custom legal exhibit tabs cost?

Pricing is instant: the online designer shows your exact price live as you set the exhibit range, number of sets, Mylar colors, and collation — no quote request, no waiting, no sales call. Quantity breaks apply automatically, orders start at the 25-set minimum, and a free PDF proof comes before printing.

Can you print sequentially numbered exhibit tabs?

Yes. Enter the starting and ending number in the designer and the full sequence is generated automatically — ideal for large exhibit sets like 1–250. You can also do alphabetical (A–Z, AA–ZZ) or fully custom labels.

Do legal exhibit tabs come collated?

Yes. Sets are collated in order and Mylar edge-reinforced so they're ready to file straight out of the box — no hand-assembly required.

What is the minimum order for legal tabs?

The minimum is 25 sets, with volume pricing up to 1,000+ sets. Paper exhibit tabs ship in about 5 business days from proof approval.

Are litigation exhibit tabs, trial exhibit tabs, and deposition tabs the same thing?

Yes — litigation exhibit tabs, trial exhibit tabs, deposition exhibit tabs, and exhibit dividers all refer to the same product: numbered or lettered tab dividers (usually 1/8 cut, Mylar-reinforced, collated) that separate exhibits in case binders and filings. Vendors just label them differently.

Thanks !

Justin was so nice to work with ! He answered all my questions and now I feel like an expert :)

Megan, thank you for the kind words — I'll pass them straight to Justin. Getting every question answered before anything prints is exactly how we like to work, so "now I feel like an expert" is about the best review we could ask for. Whenever your next set of tabs comes up, your questions are always welcome. John Anselmo, Tabzoola

Great Price

Glad I found you online. You're approximately 30 percent less than my old supplier and easier to work with. I'll be back.

Ben H. · Aug 22, 2026
Response from Tabzoola

Thank you, Ben — the price is no accident. We publish the whole table, setup included, so the number you see while you design is the number on the invoice. Glad the switch was easy, and we'll be ready when you are. — Tabzoola

Great customer service

I can't say enough about how great Justin was helping me with my order. After I approved the order he took time to call me to ask if i was sure about a decision to use next day delivery on the whole order when only a partial would keep me going while the rest of the order shipped ups ground. He saved me a ton of money. Thank you for caring about your customers. I wish more people were like you.

Amy L. · Aug 20, 2026
Response from Tabzoola

Thank you, Amy — I'll make sure Justin sees this. Splitting the shipment so only the part you needed went next-day was the right call, and it's the kind of thing we'd rather catch on the phone than have you find on the invoice. Anyone here would have made that call. Thank you for taking the time to write it down. — Tabzoola

Perri V. · Aug 18, 2026
Response from Tabzoola

Thank you, Perri — losing a supplier you've used for years is a real headache, and matching a set you already rely on is the kind of job we like. If you ever need another one matched, a photo of an existing tab is enough for us to pick up the titles and the colors. Glad we could keep you running. — Tabzoola

Perfect!

Tabs came out better than expected. Will definitely be back.

Joan S. · Aug 18, 2026
Response from Tabzoola

Thank you, Joan — better than expected is a good place to land. The part people usually don't expect is the make: real die-cut tabs on index stock, with the Mylar bonded on both sides of the extension, which is where tabs tear first. We'll be ready whenever you need the next run. — Tabzoola
