Exhibit cover sheet questions
What is an exhibit cover sheet?
An exhibit cover sheet, also called an exhibit cover page or slip sheet, is a plain page placed in front of each exhibit with its label, such as Exhibit 12 or Plaintiff's Exhibit A, printed large in the center, often with the court, case name and case number at the top. Tabzoola's free exhibit cover sheet maker prints one for every exhibit in a range as a single PDF.
What goes on an exhibit cover page?
The exhibit label in large type, the party if your court marks exhibits by party (Plaintiff's, Defendant's, Joint), and usually the court, the short case name and the case number. Some lawyers add a one-line description of the exhibit under the number. Follow your court's local rules and the judge's orders where they say more.
Do courts require exhibit cover sheets or exhibit tabs?
It depends on the court. The District of Utah, DUCivR 10-1(b), separates filed exhibits with cover pages but requires tabbed dividers on a judge's courtesy copy. The District of Hawaii, LR10.2(d), requires labeled tabs on exhibits and does not accept cover sheets in place of tabs. Tabzoola's court exhibit tab rules guide lists each court's rule with a citation.
Should exhibit cover sheets be letter or legal size?
Use the paper size your court requires for the filing; most state and federal courts use letter size, 8.5 x 11. The maker prints letter or legal, 8.5 x 14.
Is anything I type stored?
No. Tabzoola's exhibit cover sheet maker builds the PDF inside your browser; court names, case numbers and descriptions are never sent to Tabzoola or saved.
