Paper TabsPoly Tabs

Tabzoola is a US manufacturer and supplier of custom university and research binder tabs, made to order in Schaumburg, Illinois by Anselmo Die & Index, Inc., the family-owned plant that has die-cut index tabs since 1993 and trades online as Tabzoola, shipping nationwide.

University labs, research teams, and academic departments organize their work into binders — lab records, study protocols, grant files, and regulatory documentation — where a clear tab structure keeps a study reviewable and audit-ready. Tabzoola prints custom research tabs to your section structure, collated and ready to assemble.

Choose wipe-clean poly for binders handled in the lab, or Mylar-reinforced paper for grant and archive sets. Every order is manufactured to order in our Schaumburg, Illinois plant.

Built for labs, studies, and grants

Standardize the sections a study or department needs — Protocol, Lab Records, Data, Consent / IRB, Regulatory, Grant & Budget, Correspondence, and Publications — so a binder is consistent and ready for review or audit. Numbered, lettered, or fully custom labels are generated in the online designer.

  • Protocol, lab-record, and data section tabs
  • Consent / IRB and regulatory binder dividers
  • Grant, budget, and correspondence sections
  • Color-coded (19 Mylar / 11 poly), collated into sets

Durable for lab and archive use

Lab binders get handled constantly, so poly (plastic) tabs that wipe clean hold up best at the bench. Mylar-reinforced paper is the economical choice for grant files and long-term archives. Both can be 3-hole punched and printed on one or both sides.

The binders a research program actually keeps

Research generates a small family of recurring binders, each with a stable section logic. A regulatory (IRB) binder runs Protocol, Approvals & Amendments, Consent Forms, CVs & Training, Correspondence, Reports, and Logs. A lab notebook archive splits by project, then by Methods, Data, Analysis, and Sign-offs. A grant binder tracks Application, Award & Terms, Budget, Progress Reports, Publications, and Closeout. And a thesis or dissertation committee binder runs Draft, Committee Comments, Revisions, Approvals, and Final.

Because tabs print to your exact wording, the set matches your institution's SOP names rather than a generic list — and a saved design lets every lab in a department, or every site in a multi-site study, order the identical set so audits read the same everywhere.

Research paper and thesis binders

For a research paper binder — a dissertation defense copy, a capstone, a committee review set — the working structure is usually Abstract, Introduction, Literature Review, Methods, Results, Discussion, References, and Appendices: eight sections, which fits a 1/8 cut in one clean bank or a 1/4 cut in two banks when the section names should stay large. Sets are collated in order, so assembling five committee copies is five passes of one motion each.

Print runs for a graduate cohort or a department's annual thesis cycle hit the quantity breaks quickly — 25 sets is the minimum and the per-set price falls steeply from there, priced live in the designer.

Frequently asked questions

Can research tabs match our regulatory or IRB binder structure?

Yes. Enter your exact sections — Protocol, Consent/IRB, Regulatory, Data, and so on — and we print and collate matching sets so every study binder is consistent and review-ready.

Are poly or paper tabs better for lab binders?

Poly (plastic) tabs are water-resistant and wipe clean, so they hold up better at the bench. Mylar-reinforced paper is a lower-cost choice for grant files and archives.

What sections go in a research paper or thesis binder?

The standard skeleton is Abstract, Introduction, Literature Review, Methods, Results, Discussion, References, and Appendices — eight sections, a natural 1/8-cut set, or 1/4 cut in two banks if you want bigger tabs. Committee binders often add a Comments or Revisions tab. You type your exact section names in the designer and every copy arrives collated in order.

Can every lab or site in our program use the same tab set?

Yes — that is the main reason programs order custom instead of stock. The design is saved, so every lab in a department or every site in a multi-site study reorders the identical set: same sections, same colors, same order. Monitors and auditors see the same binder structure at every location.

Do you take university purchase orders?

Yes — purchase orders with Net-30 terms are accepted, which suits grant-funded purchasing. Pricing is published and live in the designer, so the quote your purchasing office needs is on screen before you commit, and a free PDF proof precedes every run.

Thanks !

Justin was so nice to work with ! He answered all my questions and now I feel like an expert :)

Megan D. · Aug 29, 2026
Response from Tabzoola

Megan, thank you for the kind words — I'll pass them straight to Justin. Getting every question answered before anything prints is exactly how we like to work, so "now I feel like an expert" is about the best review we could ask for. Whenever your next set of tabs comes up, your questions are always welcome. John Anselmo, Tabzoola

Great Price

Glad I found you online. You're approximately 30 percent less than my old supplier and easier to work with. I'll be back.

Ben H. · Aug 22, 2026
Response from Tabzoola

Thank you, Ben — the price is no accident. We publish the whole table, setup included, so the number you see while you design is the number on the invoice. Glad the switch was easy, and we'll be ready when you are. — Tabzoola

Great customer service

I can't say enough about how great Justin was helping me with my order. After I approved the order he took time to call me to ask if i was sure about a decision to use next day delivery on the whole order when only a partial would keep me going while the rest of the order shipped ups ground. He saved me a ton of money. Thank you for caring about your customers. I wish more people were like you.

Amy L. · Aug 20, 2026
Response from Tabzoola

Thank you, Amy — I'll make sure Justin sees this. Splitting the shipment so only the part you needed went next-day was the right call, and it's the kind of thing we'd rather catch on the phone than have you find on the invoice. Anyone here would have made that call. Thank you for taking the time to write it down. — Tabzoola

Thank You

My old supplier went out of business. You guys produced an exact copy of what we've been using. Thank you!!!

Perri V. · Aug 18, 2026
Response from Tabzoola

Thank you, Perri — losing a supplier you've used for years is a real headache, and matching a set you already rely on is the kind of job we like. If you ever need another one matched, a photo of an existing tab is enough for us to pick up the titles and the colors. Glad we could keep you running. — Tabzoola

Perfect!

Tabs came out better than expected. Will definitely be back.

Joan S. · Aug 18, 2026
Response from Tabzoola

Thank you, Joan — better than expected is a good place to land. The part people usually don't expect is the make: real die-cut tabs on index stock, with the Mylar bonded on both sides of the extension, which is where tabs tear first. We'll be ready whenever you need the next run. — Tabzoola
